Dr. Abdulelah Alhawsawi

Dr. Abdulelah Alhawsawi is a distinguished physician-surgeon, healthcare quality leader and biotech innovator. With double board certification in general surgery (American & Canadian Boards) and sub-specialty in transplant and hepatobiliary surgery, he brings deep clinical expertise to his leadership roles.

His surgical credentials include a general surgery residency at Dalhousie University, Halifax (2004–2009) and a prestigious multi-organ transplant/hepatobiliary fellowship at Mount Sinai Medical Center, New York Beyond the operating room, Dr. Alhawsawi has made significant contributions to national and global health systems. He served as the founding Director General of the Saudi Patient Safety Center—a WHO Collaborating Centre—where he spearheaded patient-safety reforms and helped embed patient safety as a priority at the G20 level.

Today, as CEO of Novo Genomics, Dr. Alhawsawi leads strategic efforts to advance genomics and multi-omics innovation in the region, aiming to position the firm as a globally recognized biotech leader.
